Or Not.

With two friends of Moss, Carly and Kristen, each heading to Mexico this weekend, I was reminded of this little blog I wrote last Fall, but never published. I do feel compelled to offer the girls one piece of advice: Be sure to call your husband at least once while you’re gone or he may convince himself you were kidnapped by a drug cartel.
This past January, my cousin announced her Cabo San Lucas destination wedding plans. While it sounded fabulous, I thought there was no way we could all go. And then I thought about it some more. Maybe a romantic getaway for the two of us. Nah, that’s not really Phil’s thing. Then my husband says “Why don’t you and your sister just go?” SAY WHAAAAA? Ticket booked in record time.
I don’t speak Spanish, but I thought it would be irresponsible to travel to a foreign country and not know at least a little of the native language, so I planned to learn the basics. I figured, hey, my 1st and 2nd Graders are taking Spanish in school -- I’ll study with them and make it a family thing. We’ll all grow together.
Well, I am leaving tomorrow and, as of this moment, I’ve spent exactly 14 seconds learning Spanish. Lucky for me, a quick online search got me all the Español I really want to know:
¿Dónde está mi margarita? – Where is my margarita?
¿Donde esta el baño? = Where is the bathroom?
Ayúdeme, por favor = Please help me
Necesito un medico = I need a doctor
And not necessarily in that order. Hasta luego!
