Uniquely Retro Basement Remodel in Oak Hill
Customer Focus
Our MOSS customer, returning to our team after the completion of their award-winning kitchen remodel, knew they wanted their Oak Hill basement to be remodeled in an incredibly unique and fun way. With a massive, retro movie print as the inspiration for the space, the basement was designed with a colorful floor, distinct areas for gaming, relaxing, exercising, and more, and a cozy bedroom and fun bathroom tucked away in a corner. The result? A basement that is the perfect reflection of the homeowner’s eclectic and funky design aesthetic.
Safety
This basement remodel was completed during the global pandemic, with all CDC health and safety guidelines followed to keep both the homeowner and family as well as MOSS teammates safe throughout the process.
Performance
The MOSS team suggested a sliding barn door for the basement’s powder room, which helped save space in the hallway leading to the nearby bedroom. To make the door even more interesting, MOSS suggested painting the inside of it a light blue to match the detailed floor tile. With the addition of the fun monkey light fixture in the bathroom and the semi-custom cabinetry, it’s a powder room of surprises for all who use it!
Fairness
Design is a personal decision, and many of those for this basement remodel came from our homeowner. Our team works with our customers to provide helpful suggestions for design but also to align with them if they have specific guideposts for how they envision their space to look. This basement’s colorful floor was a specific idea from the homeowner – our design team took that idea and helped choose the remainder of the selections (cabinets, etc.) with that in mind.
Quality
Creating the custom floor required a skilled set of craftsmen – and it turned out beautifully. With the colors pulled from the vintage movie print but softened slightly by the grey couches and cabinetry, it’s an overall effect that was achieved only by the highest quality of attention to detail.
