Incredible Northern Virginia Basement Remodel Features Wine Room and Media Room
Customer Focus
When our customers purchased their Northern Virginia home, they knew that they wanted to enjoy their large basement for entertaining family and friends. However, not only had it been finished poorly by a previous owner, but it also didn’t have the wow factors that our customers wanted. With the help of our designers and MOSS 360, our proprietary virtual reality architectural design tool, the remodeled basement design came together to include a stunning glass-enclosed and temperature-controlled wine room, full bar with seating, a separate dining table area and seating area, full guest bedroom, full bathroom, and, to top it off, an enormous media room with a gorgeous ceiling complete with off-set lighting to set any mood.
Safety
MOSS began this remodeling project before the global pandemic and continued to work throughout the duration. By implementing all company health and safety guidelines (as recommended by the CDC), the project was able to be completed with minimal disruption and no days lost.
Performance
When this basement was initially assessed, it was discovered that the main support beam had not been properly installed nor was it to code. MOSS was required to replace it to make the home safe and to be able to support the newly remodeled space. A quality remodeler will not only stress the look of a space but also its stability.
Fairness
While under construction, there were portions of the remodel that were delayed, due to global supply chain issues during 2020. The delays and changes were relayed to the homeowner with solutions provided to continue to move the project forward.
Quality
Installing a wine room which required specific temperature controls meant that MOSS had to create special venting for the room, which was carefully installed in the ceiling of the cellar. In addition, electrical panels were placed behind the wine cellar and accessible through a “secret door” to the side, which doubles as a set of built-in shelves. An incredible idea to be able to essentially “hide” the portions of spaces that normally can’t be.
