Interior Remodel in Vienna Features Spacious Kitchen, Dining Room, Family Room
Customer Focus
Our MOSS customers purchased their home in Vienna, sight unseen, as they were moving to the area from a distance. They knew that they wanted to be in the Northern Virginia community they had chosen but once they were in their home in person, they realized that there were many aspects of it that didn't suit their needs nor their personal aesthetics. Our customers worked with our design team to create the home of their dreams, which included many changes to the main level and the upstairs. The main level highlights the most dramatic changes, including the opening of the foyer and move of the powder room to the back of the home, the shift of the original family room to become a main level mudroom/laundry room, the expansion and opening of the kitchen by removing a wall and transitioning the original dining room to the front room, and the change of the original carport/four season room into the new family room. Upstairs, the primary closet and bathroom were enlarged to accommodate the family’s needs, and the hallway bathroom upgraded for the children in the home. Overall, a total transformation of this home to suit the family new both to the area and to the house itself.
Safety
This project began and was completed during the global pandemic. All CDC health and safety guidelines were followed.
Performance
One of the biggest design factors was the installation of the new fireplace in the updated family room. Rather than a brick or stone surround, our homeowners requested a tile surround. The chosen tile had to be carefully placed, as it was a basket weave design, and each section had to match up to look seamless. The finished product is flawless.
Fairness
The homeowners wanted a large pantry but didn’t want it to take up space in the newly designed kitchen nor in any cabinetry. Our design team suggested creating a pantry from space from the original dining room, essentially hiding it behind the kitchen. The new walk-in pantry was outfitted with the home’s original cabinets, painted the same color blue as the new kitchen island cabinetry. The repurposing of the cabinets into the pantry gave them new life and helped with the overall budget.
Quality
Our customers raved about the finish work on the walls of their new dining room and love the look of it. They have already discussed doing the same craftmanship on the walls of the new family room. A testimony to the expert skill of our field technicians here at MOSS.
